GENERATIVE AI: DIGITAL AQUARIUM LEARNING RESOURCES

AI Creative Industries Course [Partial UNLOCK FRIDAY 10TH]

An Online course that explores the role AI has within the creative industries, looking at its place within Film, Design, Productivity, Ideation and more, alongside the impacts of these tools on the roles of creatives and consumers. Asking Why? How? And should we use these tools for creative practice?

This is an EVOLVING course, which means that materials may change throughout the Academic year and beyond, and some areas may unlock over time. No passkey is required to access the learning resource.

University Guidelines on the use of AI

The University of Lincoln's AI Guidelines are built on four core principles: Authenticity, Accountability, Access, and Awareness. Students must not use AI to complete assessments, but can use it for research, idea generation, or learning with tutor permission, ensuring academic integrity and appropriate acknowledgement of AI use. The guidelines emphasise that AI is a tool to support, not replace, student learning and development.

Key Principles for AI Use

  • Authenticity: Ensure work submitted reflects the student's own effort and contributions.

  • Accountability: Students are responsible for the outputs generated by AI tools they use.

  • Access: Consider fairness in the availability and accessibility of AI technologies for all users.

  • Awareness: Promote understanding of AI literacy, ethical implications, and potential biases.

Student Responsibilities

  • Check with your Tutor:

Only use AI tools for assessments if your tutor explicitly states it is acceptable.

  • Maintain Academic Integrity:

Never submit AI-generated content as your own work.

  • Acknowledge AI Use:

Properly acknowledge how you have used AI tools, even if no AI content is included in your final assessment.

  • Develop Your Own Skills:

Do not let AI replace your own learning, skill development, or personal input.

  • Critically Evaluate AI Outputs:

AI can provide inaccurate or biased information, so always fact-check and critically assess AI-generated content.

Please note that if you are ever unsure whether the use of AI as part of your learning journey is permitted or not, please ask your academic tutors or the Digital Education team. It is an academic offence not to declare or to abide by the University submission guidelines inappropriately, and the resources on this site are not an endorsement or permission to use AI in practice.
