Stop Motion (Open Session)
Open Sessions are NEW for 2026: In these sessions, there is no workshop activity or talk, rather a chance to try out some equipment, have an explore and try and create something without any pressure.
Try out some Stop motion capture with a pre-fab setup (camera, dragonframe and armatures) and explore the patience and skills required to be a stop motion animator. Online support materials are available after this open session.

Try out our Virtual Production set with our work-in-progress VP environment and setup. This will not replace the planned VP workshop, but rather a more explorative session.
Virtual Reality Workshop Part One
Part One: Introduction and Designing for VR
Introductory workshop and talk focusing on what skills and design philosophies are required for designing an engaging and immersive Virtual Reality experience. By the end of this workshop, you will begin to design your VR experience with a brief of what template assets will be provided as a starting point.
Virtual Reality Workshop Part Two
Part Two: Developing VR experience
This workshop focuses on building a VR experience using a provided template to be built upon using your own designs from part one.
Drone Workshop
Practical Drone Workshop with a demonstration on safe drone usage and UK CAA laws as of 2026. Attendees must abide by the health and safety guides provided before the demonstration. Session location and date are weather-dependent, as wet or windy weather would mean the session would have to be rescheduled.
Registration of interest means you will be informed of any changes alongside location details closer to the demonstration date.
3D Scanning and Capture Workshop
3D scanning workshop with demonstration of various 3D capture and scanning tools and techniques, including photogrammetry, Gaussian Splats (Neural Render Fields) and Laser scanning.
Sandbox Induction
Inductions for ATB2211 Sandbox for students who may wish to book the Immersive Production studio in future.
Drop In Support
Open session with no agenda or planned activity, but a chance to ask me questions and chill out in the sandbox with some tech.
Unreal Evening Optional Workshop 5 - Challenge Set

Unreal Evening Optional Workshop
Unreal 5 workshop taking place in ATB2118. This first session is designed to act as an introduction and refresher to those who may have not used or feel 100% comfortable using Unreal 5.6.
Each session will focus on an area or part of a greater workflow with a template provided and an overall theme of creating an immersive world (world building) gradually covering more complex topics as the weeks progress. Written and video guides will appear at a later date on learning materials.
360 Production Workshop
Have a go at 360 film making using a variety of 360 cameras and learn how to edit content for VR and spatial playback with ambisonic audio.
AI within Creative Industries: Ethics and Responsible use Talk
A 1-Hour talk and discussion regarding how, where and when to use AI
tools within the creative industries and the ethics of these practices.
Digital Aquarium 25/26 Welcome Session & Social
Introductory session to introduce students and staff to the digital aquarium facilities and upcoming schedule for 25/26 academic year followed by a social event to get to know each other and find out how to get involved. A chance to also try out some work in progress works from VR applications through to interactive experiences.

MetaHuman Workshop
Metahuman workshop will introduce you to metahumans and their use as real-time high-fidelity digital avatars for use within Unreal Engine 5. Live tracking will be made using a live link
Mo-Cap
Learn how to create motion capture animations using video footage and help contribute towards a student and staff library of animations for VFX, Animation, Games Computing, VP and beyond.
Suitable for all years and courses however spaces are limited due to size of the room in ATB2118.

Using Gen AI for Ethical Creative media
This will be the first Digital Aquarium Seminar of the year where we will be discussing how AI can be used ethically within creative practice and dispel some of its myths and fears.
