2026 What to expect…

New Year and New workshops are inbound. As mentioned in a previous blog post, I will be changing how Digital Aquarium sessions run from now on, reducing the number and frequency of sessions and focusing on larger sessions that attract more participants. This year will be the first Co-Create Jam, a team-based innovation and pitch contest centred around a real-world theme that will be announced closer to the event date confirmation.

The aim is to run two sessions a month, ending around June 2026, for Staff and Students at the University of Lincoln, but also open up the doors for directed workshops targeted towards businesses and freelancers at various periods throughout the year. I do not yet 100% know what shape the Digital Aquarium will be in the fall 26/27 academic year, as I need to focus more on self-development and career opportunities alongside where these workshops will sit with some revalidated courses and college changes.

I want to get more students engaged with emerging and experimental technologies because these technologies and practices are not going away and are becoming increasingly important in the modern digital workplaces. We need to see past the gimmicks, the fear, and the doubt we may sometimes have and realise that experimentation, be it digital or traditional, leads to innovation and greater diversification and job opportunities for the future.
