Virtual and Immersive Production Studio

The Sandbox is the University of Lincolns Virtual Production, chroma keying, motion capture and emerging technologies production studio.

New for 2025/26

This specialist production studio features a large scale green screen space suitable for Chroma keying or for Virtual Production and is capable of full body capture. Virtual Production is handled via a dedicated VP PC located within the studio with SDI input capture and processing ability. The 3D tracking of camera movements or objects within the space are currently being handled via the Blackmagic Ursa Mini Pro 12K camera and the Vive Mars Cam-track system.

The other half of the studio is setup as a teaching and demonstration space with projection facilities but this space can also be reconfigured for motion capture and 3D scanning use cases.

Located in close proximity to edit, colour grading, audio and VFX studios this space makes for an optimal workflow for students, staff and visitors to use.

Use of the studio space will require an induction to have been carried out first via technical team and approval granted for student and staff use. Equipment setup in the space is not to be moved or removed as it is calibrated for use in this configuration.

Room rules must be followed otherwise access to space may be limited in future.
